About Pete Walrath

Pete Walrath grew up in Brookfield, CT and began playing guitar in 1982 at the age of nine. Much of his teenage years were spent doing the “garage band” thing and immersing himself in many different styles of rock and roll music. He fell in love with jazz during the early 1990’s, while studying music at Western Connecticut State University. In 1994, Pete began what has thus far become a twenty-five year career teaching guitar lessons privately in the Danbury CT area.

Since the mid-1990’s, Pete has performed hundreds of times with BLUE!, the jazz quartet he founded, and as both a leader and a sideman in various other combinations. As a music educator, he has helped many young musicians along their musical journey, some of whom have gone on to study at the university level and play professionally. He takes pride in offering students a comprehensive education, making theory easy to understand while keeping the lessons fun.

Pete holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Western CT State University and currently resides in Bethel, CT. When he is not teaching or performing he is busy doing the other thing he loves most – being a great dad!
